The Florida Department of Education’s Literacy Instruction Practice Profile for Grades PreK-5 clearly defines evidencebased instructional practices of core reading instruction in a way that is teachable, learnable, doable and assessable in practice. The practice profiles feature five core components: explicit instruction, systematic instruction, scaffolded instruction, corrective feedback and differentiated instruction. The goals of the Grades PreK-5 Literacy Instruction Practice Profile is to increase the understanding of evidence-based practices in delivering literacy instruction. The practice profile is grounded in research, aligned to Florida’s Formula for Success, and corresponds to Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking Standards (K-12) and the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Language and Literacy (PreK).
